AFC Ajax

1995 was the year Ajax etched its name into football history, defeating AC Milan to win the Champions League. It was a legendary campaign, not just for the matches themselves but for the incredible celebrations that followed. Whether in Vienna, or along the canals of Amsterdam. When Ajax Media approached us to help collect memories of that iconic journey from the fans’ perspective, we saw a unique opportunity. How could we help preserve these unforgettable moments and make them accessible for years to come?

The challenge: Gather memories from unique perspectives

Ajax wanted to gather unique fan content: photos, videos, and other personal memories of their victorious Champions League campaign in 1995. The process needed to be simple and well-organized. At the same time, Ajax needed to ensure proper permissions were in place to use the content. The solution had to be fan-friendly but also provide Ajax with a clear and manageable workflow.

Our solution: An intuitive upload portal

In collaboration with Ajax, we developed a branded upload portal tailored for ease of use, allowing fans to effortlessly share their memories from the 1995 Champions League campaign. Fans were invited through several marketing campaigns to upload photos and videos through a simple form, adding personal context such as location and the story behind their memory. Since the campaign took place 30 years ago, Ajax knew much of the fan content wouldn’t be readily available due to the technology at the time. Each submission was automatically organized with metadata provided by the fans, such as uploader, dates and event details, facilitating Ajax's team to efficiently search, filter, and categorize the content. All submissions were stored in a centralized folder for review and approval by Ajax’s media team, ensuring a smooth and effective management process.
