Shared accounts

A shared account is a special user account designed to grant access to large groups of people.

Normally, MediaLab recommends one account per person for better security, statistics, and audit trails. For that reason, shared accounts are not enabled by default. However, they can be useful in specific scenarios, such as:

  • Stock media environments where many distributors need access.
  • Live events where part of the Lab is made publicly available.

Creating a Shared Account

  • When adding a new user, you can mark it as a Shared Account.
  • This option cannot be changed later for that account.
  • Certain features are disabled, such as changing the password or email address.

Features and Permissions

  • Shared accounts can be regular users or uploaders.
  • Folder access is still managed via permission groups.
  • Auto-login links can be generated for shared accounts, allowing access without requiring a password.

To enable this feature for your Lab, please contact the MediaLab service desk.
