All video files uploaded to MediaLab are automatically transcoded to a web-optimized MP4 format by our transcoding farm. The transcoded MP4 file allows you to skip to parts of the video which have not yet been downloaded during playback, and it reduces the size of the videofile with minimal loss of quality.
During the upload process you can select multiple video formats, including the MP4 low resolution format. If this format has been created, it will be used as default format for mobile users, and can also be selected when you are on a slow internet connection.
