Sharing your media

Sharing is one of the core features of MediaLab. You can share files or folders securely with colleagues, clients, or external partners — without needing them to download large source files.

Sharing Options

When you open a file or folder and click Share, you’ll see several options:

  • Theater page link – A public view page for your media, customizable with your branding.
  • Personal link (via email) – A secure, unique link sent to a recipient’s email. You can track if and when they opened it.
  • Embed code – Use the HTML snippet to embed a MediaLab player directly on your website.
  • User accounts – For frequent collaborators, create a user account with view/download rights instead of sending links.

Security Settings

Each share link can be customized with additional safeguards:

  • Password protection – Require a password before viewing.
  • Maximum views – Limit the number of times a link can be opened.
  • Download rights – Choose whether recipients can download the preview file, the source file, or neither.
  • Watermarks – Add overlays to protect sensitive video content.

Best Practices

  • Use personal links whenever possible — they’re more secure and give you insights into recipient activity.
  • For larger audiences, use share links or embed codes.
  • For long-term access, assign user accounts with the right permissions.

Note: Even if downloads are restricted, recipients may still capture content (e.g., screen recording or screenshots). For sensitive projects, always use watermarks or limited-access links.
