Downloading shared files without browser prompts

By default, most browsers display a prompt asking where to save each file before downloading. If you frequently download files from MediaLab and want to skip this step, you can disable the prompt in your browser settings.

Google Chrome

  1. Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and go to Settings.
  2. In the left-hand menu, select Downloads.
  3. Turn off the option “Ask where to save each file before downloading.”

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the menu button in the upper-right corner and open Settings.
  2. Under General, scroll to the Files and Applications section.
  3. Turn off the option “Always ask you where to save files.”

Safari (macOS)

Safari does not have an option to disable the download prompt completely. However, it will automatically open downloaded files by default.

To prevent this behavior:

  1. Open Safari → Settings → General.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and uncheck “Open ‘safe’ files after downloading.”

Note: Disabling prompts means files will automatically download to your default downloads folder. If you often work with large or sensitive files, we recommend keeping the prompts enabled to control where your files are stored.
