MediaLab allows you to generate captions and transcriptions for audio and video files using either OpenAI (automatic AI transcription) or Amberscript (professional transcription services). You can also upload your own caption files. Transcription services are available from €0.007 per minute, and MediaLab includes 100 free OpenAI processing minutes per month.

Open the captions menu

1. Navigate to the folder containing your file.
2. Click the file to open the preview.
3. Click the three dots (•••) in the preview window.
4. Click Captions. From here, you can generate or upload captions.

Generate captions

• Open the file preview.
• Click the three dots (•••).
• Click Captions.
• Click Generate captions. If transcription is not yet activated, you will see the Activate integration: Generate transcriptions window.

Activate transcription (first-time setup)

Before generating captions for the first time, you must activate a provider.

1. In the Activate integration window, select one of the following providers:

OpenAI

• Automatically generates captions using AI
• Fast and fully automated
• Includes 100 free processing minutes per month
• Additional usage is billed from €0.007 per minute
• Requires accepting the terms and the OpenAI API Data Privacy policy

Amberscript

• Professional caption and transcription service
• Higher accuracy options available
• Supports professional and translated captions
• Pricing is handled through Amberscript depending on the selected service

2. Accept the terms of use.
3. Click Activate now.

Once activated, captions can be generated from the file preview.

Upload existing captions

If you already have caption files:

1. Open the file preview.
2. Click the three dots (•••).
3. Click Captions.
4. Click Upload captions.
5. Select your captions file (such as .srt or .vtt). The captions will now be attached to the file.

Download captions

1. Open the file preview.
2. Click the three dots (•••).
3. Click Captions.
4. Select the captions track.
5. Click Download.

• Use OpenAI for fast, automated captions
• Use Amberscript when higher accuracy or professional captions are required
• Review captions before sharing externally
• Upload existing captions when available
