Enabling public access to MediaLab

MediaLab is designed to give you full control over your media files, with access typically restricted to user accounts. However, there are multiple ways to make your content publicly accessible:

  • Generate a Share Link for specific files, playlists, or folders.
    • To generate a Share Link click on the three dots next to the folder or on the media file and click Public Link
  • You can control permissions, such as allowing only viewing or enabling downloads, expiration date or setting a password for access.
  • If files are spread across multiple folders, create a playlist and add the files there before sharing.
  • Share the generated link publicly via social media, email, or mailing lists.
  • Optionally, embed the playlist on your website using the Embed code.
  • For sharing entire folder structures or frequently updated media, use a public/shared user account.
  • Configure this account with permissions of your choice (e.g., view-only or download access).
  • Generate an auto-login link for the shared account.
    • This link can expire after a set period or be revoked at any time.
    • Place the link on your website to grant visitors direct access to your MediaLab content.

3. User Registration module

MediaLab offers a User Registration module that allows users to register and log in to the system. Administrators can choose whether users need approval before they can log in as well as a default user profile can be configured. This module can be requested by contacting the MediaLab service desk.

Note: The auto-login feature is not enabled by default. Contact the MediaLab service desk to activate and configure it.
